"I have seen tourists lose everything — not because Italy is dangerous, but because no one warned them."

An Italian Police Officer

Most problems don't come from danger. They come from distraction.

Every year, thousands of tourists in Italy face situations they were completely unprepared for. Not because they were careless — but because nobody told them how things actually work here.

The ZTL sign you didn't see. The QR code on your windshield that wasn't official. The helpful stranger at the station who wasn't helping at all.

This guide exists because that gap shouldn't exist.

€100+
Average ZTL fine per infraction.
Most tourists get multiple.

Car Accidents
Step-by-step: what to say, what to sign, what never to do. For your car and for rental cars.
03
Road Signs Explained
ZTL, no parking zones, restricted lanes — with real photos taken on Italian streets.
04
Theft & Emergencies
Pickpocketing, hotel theft, lost passport, stolen cards. What to do, in what order, right now.

Written from the inside. Not from a travel blog.

This guide was not written from Reddit threads or tourist reviews. It was written by an Italian police officer who has worked these situations firsthand — who knows what scammers look for, how they operate, and what actually protects you.

The gap between foreign tourists and Italian institutions is real. Language barriers, unfamiliar laws, no one explaining anything. This guide exists to close that gap.

The gap
"When tourists arrive in Italy, there is no dialogue. No explanation. No one tells them the rules — not because the rules don't exist, but because no one speaks their language."
The source
"I have seen these situations happen, again and again. I know how they start. I know how to stop them. That's what this guide is."
The credential
Written by an active Italian police officer. Based on real cases. Reviewed for legal accuracy.
01
Your car gets towed
You parked legally — or so you thought. There's a sign you didn't understand. The guide shows you exactly what each sign means, with real photos taken on Italian streets.
02
Your wallet disappears
On the train, at the market, in the station. You look away for one second. The guide tells you exactly who to call, in what order, and how to block your cards immediately.
03
You're in a car accident
You don't speak Italian. The other driver is talking fast. Someone hands you a paper to sign. Stop. The guide tells you what to say, what not to sign, and who to call.

One mistake costs more than this.

A single ZTL fine is €100. A stolen wallet without knowing who to call costs you hours, stress, and your trip. The guide costs less than a coffee and a croissant — and it works before, during, and after something goes wrong.

No. It's for anyone who doesn't know the Italian system — expats, digital nomads, long-term visitors, anyone renting a car or navigating Italian cities for the first time.
Is it really written by a police officer?
Yes. The content is based on real firsthand experience in the field, not research from travel blogs. This is what actually happens, and what actually works.
How do I use it during an emergency?
The guide is fully interactive — every section is one tap from the index. When something happens, open it, tap the situation, follow the steps. No scrolling, no searching.

An interactive PDF. Works on any phone, tablet, or laptop — no app required. Download it before you travel and it works offline too.
